STOLLÁR XÉNIA
COMPOSER AND VIOLA DA GAMBA PLAYER
I finished my composition studies at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, as a student of Vajda János.
From 1995 till 1997 I studied viola da gamba in Den Haag by Wieland Kuijken, later continued my gamba studies in Brussels at the Koninklijk Conservatorium. I made my diploma in 2001.
In 1992 I was awarded at the “XX. Competition of Electro-Acoustic Compositions” in Bourges (France).
Since 1994 I’m working in theatre productions as a composer and viola da gamba player (Artus, Mándy Ildikó Társulata, Ágens – Hungary; Carambole – Switzerland; T.I.L.T. – Belgium).
I started to work together with the Romanian opera and theatre director, Silviu Purcarate, in 1999. I performed in his projects in Limoges and in Cluj Napoca. Our last common work was the “Puccini: Gianni Schicchi” with the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj. The opera was reorchestrated by me and was premiered in October of 2007 in Cluj.
